Narrative: 

On Thursday, August 27, 2026, I, Officer David Ruf, was in full-uniform and assigned to marked cruiser East-3, for the Somerville Police Department.  At approximately 1:16 P.M., Officer R. Lavey III (East-4) and I were dispatched to Target (180 Somerville Ave) for a shoplifter.

               Upon arrival I spoke with the LP officer, XXXX, who stated that there was a male party, later identified as Taalib Bennett, who was actively concealing electronic items. He was stopped at the front door by Target Loss Prevention and officers and then was brought back to the office so that all the merchandise could be totaled up, which came out to $743.68. It should be noted that Taalib entered the store at approximately 1:12 P.M., started concealing at approximately 1:15 P.M. and then attempted to exit the store passing all points of sale at approximately 1:22 P.M.

               Officer Timothy Sullivan, operating the prisoner transport wagon, Unit 200, transported Mr. Bennett to the station and was booked in the usual manner by Lt. Anderson for the following;
