Narrative:

On Friday, October 16, 2026, while working my 8 AM to 4 PM shift in full uniform patrol, I Officer Christian Marsden, along with Officer Lorenti, and K-9 Fluff we assigned to walking route 1. At approximately 9:50 AM, we responded to the intersection of Medford Street and Sycamore Street to assist  officers with a possible suspect of a B&E of his sister in law's house located at 6 Gilman Terrace. He also damaged her property.

Upon arrival, I was met by Officer Nick Moreira, (East 3). He informed me that he observed the male party in question, later identified as Mr. Stephen CALLINAN sitting on the retaining wall in front of the Winter Hill School.

Officer Pierre then informed me that she spoke to the witness, Mr. XXXX. XXXX informed Officer Pierre that he was sitting in his vehicle when he observed CALLINAN walk up onto the porch of 6 Gilman Terr. XXXX approached the male and asked him what he was doing, to which he stated that he was the owner's brother in law, Stephen. XXXX stated that CALLINAN appeared to take something, and left. When asked what CALLINAN took, XXXX stated that he couldn't tell at that moment.

XXXX went on to say that after a few minutes, CALLINAN came back, however this time he went inside the house. It was at this point that he contacted the owner of the house identified as Ms XXXX to inform her what just had happened. While on the phone with XXXX, she stated to XXXX that no one should be inside the house, not even CALLINAN.

XXXX then walked across the street, knocked on the door, where CALLINAN came out and attempted to put the key in the mailbox of the house. XXXX stated to CALLINAN to give him the key, which he did and fled the area.

XXXX then called the Somerville Police Department and asked for a walk through of her house. While clearing her house, she asked if her lock box on her front porch was there. When Officers walked outside, they observed a broken spindle where the lockbox was suppose to be and did not see any lockbox anywhere. (picture attached).

Officer Romero put out a description of CALLINAN as well as saying CALLINAN'S name. Officer searched the area where Officer Nick Moreira located him in front of the Winter Hill school, where CALLINAN was detained and read his Miranda Rights from a card that Ofc. Moreira carries in his vest pocket. CALLINAN waived his rights.

I asked CALLINAN what he was doing at XXXX house, to which he stated that he was getting clothes. I then asked him where he lives. CALLINAN stated that he lives at 127 North Street. I asked him if he had clothes at his house, to which CALLINAN stated no. I then asked CALLINAN why he didn't have clothes at his own house with no response.

Det. Chris Fusco was on scene and speaking to XXXX. I asked to speak to her. I then asked XXXX if CALLINAN had clothing at her house. She responded with no however she did buy him a pair of jeans at Ocean State Job Lots that day prior. I then asked her if she gave CALLINAN permission or if it was ok that he was in the house. XXXX stated that he did NOT have permission to be there at all.

Based on the facts, CALLINAN was placed under arrest without incident for B&E daytime for a Felony (MGL c.266 s18) and Defacement, Mal. wanton Property (MGL C.266 S126A).

Transport unit 200, operated by Officer O'Leary, was requested to the scene to transport CALLINAN to Somerville Police Headquarters for booking. Booking was completed by Lt. Kim in the usual manner.
