Narrative:
On 6/30/26, while I assigned in uniform to the City of Somerville Fireworks event, I was in the vicinity of Broadway and Charles Ryan Rd when I observed several officers chasing two males down Broadway. Due to the large crowd and the volume of the crowds I was unable to hear any radio transmissions regarding the issue. Several officers were able to detain one of the males right at the intersection of Broadway and Charles Ryan Rd. I observed Det. Collazo still chasing one other male on foot. Det. Collazo and I were able to detain this male opposite 8 Charles Ryan Rd. We were also joined by Sgt. Slattery as we began to investigate what occurred. We learned that there was a fight in the area of CVS Pharmacy at Medford St. and Brodway.
While we were speaking to the first male I observed Chief Benford escorting a male, later identified as Ryan Sepulveda, to the area we were. This male was yelling and screaming while Chief Benford brought him to us. Due to his agressive demeanor we place him in handcuff and as we were attempting to handcuff him I saw two small bottles of alcohol "nips" fall from the sweatshirt area and onto the cement wall of Trum Field. The "nips" were Dr. McGillicuddy's Menthol Mint Liquor (50 ML each). I would note that both of these plastic bottles of alcohol were unopened. Once we had him secured in handcuffs, I was able to speak to Chief Benford and determine what occurred prior to Sepulvada being brought in our direction. Chief Benford informed me that Sepulveda was with one of the individuals involved in the original fight and kept trying to interfere with the officers who were detaining the first male near the intersection of Broadway and Charles Ryan Rd. While they were attempting to control the juvenile, Sepulveda was causing a scene and attempted to grab a bag that belonged to the juvenile. Chief Benford informed me that is when he escorted him across the street to us.
Sepulveda was placed under arrest for Person under 21 Possession of Liquor C138 S34C. He was transported to the Somerville Police Station where he was booked by Lt. Capasso.
