Narrative: On October 23, 2026 while patrolling in East-4, at approximately 4:30 PM I, Officer Benson, alongside my FTO Ofc. Lavey III, responded to 344 Harvard Street in Cambridge to assist the Cambridge Police Department with documenting a road rage report that occurred in Somerville. Upon arrival, I made contact with Cambridge Poilice Department, Officer Francis (#720) And the reporting party, Mr. XXXX. Mr. XXXX reported the following: On October 23, 2026 at approximately 4:00 PM Mr. XXXX was operating his vehicle (XXXX) traveling westbound on Washington Street in proximity of 160 Washington Street (Autozone). while driving westbound, Mr. XXXX reports that while merging into a lane, he had needed to pull in front of another vehicle, MA XXXX, described as a red-colored Toyota Camry when the operator became irate and aggressive with Mr. XXXX, proceeding to honk its horn in an unncessary manner and following dangerously close to his vehicle's rear bumper. Mr. XXXX explained the operator, described as a white male in his twenties wearing a sheisty face covering and red hoodie, proceeded to speed and insert MA XXXX in front of his vehicle at the intersection of McGrath Highway and Washington Street once the traffic signal turned red. At this time, Mr. XXXX reported that the male stopped the vehicle in a dangerous manner in front of his vehicle, rolling down the window and yelling at Mr. XXXX. Mr. XXXX produced dashcam video footage substantiating this portion of the incident. Mr. XXXX proceeded to drive through the intersection of McGrath Highway and Washington Street, pulling his vehicle over in fear in front of 163 Washington Street (Liquor Zone). Mr. XXXX reported that MA XXXX pulled alongside his vehicle, and the operator proceeded to yell profanities and "Go back to your country or I will find people to kill you." This portion of the incident was also captured via audio by Mr. XXXX dashcam. Mr. XXXX proceeded to claim that the operator brandished a knife while saying this in an intimidating and assaultive manner. Mr. XXXX rolled up his window at this time, and the vehicle sped away. At this time, I provided Mr. XXXX with the incident number to our response and advised him to email me the dashcam videos once they became available. It should be noted a knife cannot be observed in the video footage due to the dashcam being a forward-facing angle only. At approximately 5:30 PM, I was advised by Sergeant Schneider that Massachusetts State Police had apprehended MA XXXX and detained a male matching the description provided to Cambridge Police Department by Mr. XXXX, identified as Mr. Robert Lessor. This male was subsequently transported to the Somerville Police Department by MSP. MA XXXX was consensually searched by its regsitered owner. No knife matching Mr. XXXX description was located or recovered. At this time and based on available information, I am filing an application for Criminal Complaint against Mr. Lessor for the following offenses:
265/15B/A ASSAULT W/DANGEROUS WEAPON c265 S15B/A
Respectfully,
Officer Joshua Benson #393 |
