Narrative: On October 22, 2026, I Officer Brandon Pavao was working East-3 with my partner, Officer Priscilla Ribeiro. At about 7:30pm, we responded to 20 Memorial Road for a stolen moped that was pinging in the area (Incident #26076379). Officer J. Morel (East-4) responded as well. The following is a summary of the incident: Upon arrival, we were met by Mr. XXXX. Mr. XXXX stated that his moped was stolen around 12pm today, from McDonalds (14 McGrath Highway), in Somerville. His moped is a 2025, blue, TZTC ST-150, with a Massachusetts registration plate of XXXX. The VIN number to his moped is XXXX. Mr. XXXX stated that at 7:30pm, he had called 911 and requested assistance because the air tag he had on his moped was pinging to 20 Memorial Rd, in Somerville. He said he wanted assistance looking around for the moped. Shortly before we arrived on location, the air tag's location moved to Josephine Ave, in Somerville. Officer Morel put the location of the new ping over the air and Detective Roger Desrochers responded to the area. When Detective Desrochers arrived on Josephine Ave, we notified him that the updated ping had the moped at 28 Rogers Ave. The backyard of 28 Rogers Ave. is behind Josephine Ave. When Detective Desrochers arrived at 28 Rogers Ave, he notified dispatch that he had located 2 mopeds in the backyard of 28 Rogers Ave, with one of them matching the description of Mr. XXXX stolen moped. We had him confirm the VIN number of the blue moped in the yard, which was a match to Mr. XXXX stolen moped (XXXX). The plate number that was attached to Mr. XXXX moped was a Massachusetts moped registration of XXXX. A CJIS query of that registration number came back to a black, 2021 JBLC Boom Revolution with a VIN number of XXXX. The registered owner of that plate number was a Mr. Angel Dejesus, out of 28 Rogers Ave, in Somerville. We then ran the plate number that was attached to the second moped in the backyard, which was a Massachusetts, Moped registration of XXXX. A CJIS query of that plate number showed that it was active to a black, 2018 YNGF agility moped with a VIN number of XXXX and was also registered to Mr. Dejesus. However, the moped that the plate was attached to was a black, 2025 TZTC ST with a VIN number of XXXX. A CJIS query of that VIN turned up a stolen moped out of Boston, to Mr. XXXX. Officer Ribeiro and I responded to 28 Rogers Ave, along with the Mr. XXXX. Once on scene, we spoke with Mr. Dejesus. Detective Desrochers informed us that Mr. Dejesus had exited his home, said that the mopeds were his and asked Officers what was going on. Officer Ribeiro then asked him where he got the blue moped from and he stated that he bought it off a guy in Boston, at a Mobile gas station, next to the TD Garden. He stated that a guy saw him on his black moped and pulled up next to him, asking him if he wanted to buy it so he did. When asked if he had any paperwork for it or for the transaction, he said no because he bought it for $300 cash. When asked if he had any proof of that transaction such as messages or phone calls with the male, he said no because he did not know him. Detective Thomas Lambert then read Mr. Dejesus his Miranda rights, from a card that Officer Ribeiro carries on her person. After reading him his rights, Mr. Dejesus stated that he wanted to answer questions. Detective Lambert informed him that he saw him riding the exact, stolen, black moped yesterday, on McGrath Highway at 3:48pm. He knows the exact time because he radioed the plate number to dispatch and had them run the plate number. Dispatch reported back to Detective Lambert that it was active to a black moped, registered to Mr. Dejesus. Detective Lambert informed Mr. Dejesus that he also knew it was the exact moped because recognized the helmet that was locked to the rear of it, as well as the phone cord hanging off of it from the moped, he was driving yesterday. Mr. Dejesus stated that he was riding the black moped yesterday because it is his moped. We informed him that the plate was registered to a different moped and that the moped that was attached to the plate was actually reported stolen. Mr. Dejesus stated that he had the title to the moped but was unable to produce paperwork proving that the stolen moped attached to plate number XXXX belonged to him. He also stated that he does not have proof of purchase or communications between the person he purchased it from because it was a long time ago. When asked if the title matched the VIN that was on the physical moped, he said he does not know, because he never checked. When asked to produce the keys to the moped, he could not. Officer Ribeiro then asked Mr. Dejesus where he drove with the blue moped today. He stated he drove it home from Boston. When asked what time he received the blue moped in Boston, he said between 2:30pm and 4pm. When asked how he got the moped home he said that he drove the blue moped home, then walked back to the TD garden to pick up his black moped. When asked how he got either of the mopeds home without the key, he refused to answer. It should be noted that the ignition to both Mr. XXXX stolen moped and the black, stolen moped that was attached to plate number XXXX had ignitions that were not intact. Mr. XXXX also stated that several parts of his moped was missing on the front, by the ignition and he was unable to drive it. I placed Mr. DeJesus under arrest for 2 counts of Massachusetts General law Chapter 266 Section 28/F: Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle. He was transported to the station by the Prisoner Transport Wagon (Unit-200), operated by Robert Hartsgrove. The black, 2025 TZTC ST with a VIN number of XXXX, that had the attached plate of 43399 was towed by Stephen's Towing. The ignition was not intact and Detective Lambert discovered that the lever to open the seat had been manipulated so you could pull on it to open the seat. An inventory search of the moped came up with several tools, nuts and bolts, and kitchen knives in the seat of the moped. Officer Hartsgrove sent a locate to Boston Police for this vehicle.
