1 Count:    SHOPLIFTING BY CONCEALING MDSE

On 11/05/2025, I, Detective Thomas Lambert was assigned in a plain clothes capacity to the CAT Team. At 12:25 PM, I was assigned to the Assembly Row area and received a phone call from Assembly Row Security regarding a shoplifter at 544 Assembly Row (Adidas) that had just entered 540 Assembly Row (Reebok.) Alpha-1 Officer Michael Cleary and East-4 Officer Keighla McAloney responded as back up.

I would like to note that the individual is well known to me and was positively identified as Mr. Rachid Belhadj who has an extensive history of shoplifting. Assembly Row Security stated that Mr. Belhadj had just shoplifted from Adidas and stole soccer jerseys and crossed all points of payment without any attempt to purchase the items. The security devices were still attached to the jerseys.

Upon my arrival I observed Mr. Belhadj leaving the Reebok store with a reusable TJ MAXX bag that appeared to have items inside of it. While Mr. Belhadj exited the store, you could hear the sensor alarm system go off inside as he crossed the threshold of the last exit point. I stopped Mr. Belhadj with my badge fully displayed on my outer most garment and identified myself as a detective with the Somerville Police. Mr. Belhadj had the following items inside of the reusable TJ MAXX bag:

-4 Adidas soccer jerseys totaling $400 (security devices still attached)

-1 pair of Reebok sneakers totaling $39.99

Mr. Belhadj was unable to provide me with a receipt for any of the items.

I placed Mr. Belhadj in handcuffs and notified him that he was under arrest. Unit 200 Officer Marika Duval arrived on scene shortly after and transported him back to Somerville Police Headquarters where he was booked in the usual manner by the shift commander, Lieutenant Paul Anderson.

Respectfully submitted,

Detective Thomas Lambert
