On Friday, December 19, 2025, I, Officer Romero, was on duty in full uniform and assigned to marked cruiser East-1 for the Somerville Police Department. At approximately 1:28 A.M, I was dispatched to 449 Canal Lane (parking garage) for a report of a male party who struck the parking garage gate. East-4 (Officer K. Taylor) and East-3 (Officer Kartso) responded as back up.

Upon arrival, I observed a gray Honda Accord stopped at the gate with no occupants inside the vehicle. The vehicle initially appeared abandoned. While inspecting the vehicle for damage, the owner later identified as Mr. Denis IBISHI exited the lobby of 449 Canal Lane (residence).

Mr. IBISHI stated that he had gone into the lobby to speak with the security guard, later identified as Mr. XXXX (reporting party), to request assistance in opening the garage gate so he could exit. Mr. IBISHI advised that he had been attempting to leave for approximately 30 minutes but was unable to do so because the gate would not open, which caused him to become frustrated. He stated that he repeatedly asked Mr. XXXX to open the gate. I asked Mr. IBISHI whether he struck the gate with his vehicle, which he denied, stating that he only wanted to leave.

I then spoke with Mr. XXXX, who stated that Mr. IBISHI damaged the parking gate at the other entrance located at 479 Canal Street. Mr. XXXX reported that Mr. IBISHI drove up to the gate, exited his vehicle, and physically lifted the gate in an attempt to leave the garage without paying for parking. As a result, the gate broke and fell to the ground.

Mr. XXXX provided surveillance footage showing Mr. IBISHI driving up to the gate and damaging it while attempting to leave the scene without paying.

Based on witness statements and observations on scene, Mr. Denis IBISHI was placed under arrest for Malicious Destruction of Prop +$1200. Transport unit 200, operated by Officer Goodnow, was requested to the scene. IBISHI was transported to Somerville Police Headquarters for booking by Lt. Isidoro.
