Narrative:

On October 13, 2026, I, Officer N. Moreira, was assigned to Sector East-3. I responded to 180 Somerville Avenue (Target)  for a report of an assault. Please see incident #260738457. East-2 Officer Thompson and East-1 Officer G. Pierre also responded.

Upon arrival, I spoke with reporting party Loss Prevention Officer XXXX. XXXX stated that a male party was causing a disturbance in the store and that a customer complained, so he approached the suspect outside the store. He stated he believed the customer was Martin Landry and that he had the suspect on camera. When he approached the suspect, he seemed intoxicated and became aggressive. XXXX stated that the male unexpectedly punched him in the upper chest, and it continued to hit him in the chin. XXXX stated the male party left the Target parking lot and turned left toward Union Square. I reviewed security footage and observed the suspect strike XXXX. I saw the suspect wearing a brown leather jacket, gray sweatpants, and a blue baseball hat.

I advised XXXX that we needed to identify the party to pursue charges.

After leaving Target, I headed toward Union Square. I observed a party matching the description at 269 Somerville Avenue. I approached the party and recognized him to be Martin Landry. I radioed dispatch and alerted them of my location. Officer Thompson responded to my location. It was apparent Landry was intoxicated. I asked him what happened at Target, and he could not form a coherent sentence. I called Cataldo Ambulance to evaluate Landry.

While waiting for Cataldo to arrive, Landry continued to reach into his pockets and make erratic movements. After I ordered him to stop reaching into his pockets and keep his hands visible, I pat-frisked Landry for weapons. As we continued to wait for Cataldo Ambulance to arrive, Landry became upset and took a fighting stance. He then turned his body and made a fist with one hand, punching Officer Thompson in the chest.

Cataldo arrived, and Martin refused medical treatment. Landry was then placed in handcuffs and advised he was under arrest. He then tried to pull away, and he was placed on the ground with his ankles crossed. While on the ground, and repeadlty called Officer Thompson derogatory racial slurs and kicked Officer Thompson in the legs.

Officers walked Landry to Police Headquarters, where Lieutenant Kim booked him in the usual manner.

Landry will be charged with the following.
