Narrative: On 07/12/2026 at 5:24 PM, I, Officer Albert Gee assigned to West 5 and officer Ryan Sullivan assigned to West 7 was dispatched to JP Licks for a man who hit a female with a laptop. Officer Mark Canty assigned to CR2 also responded to assist.
Upon arrival, I met the victim/Ms. XXXX. She stated a big black male with dreads hit her with a laptop. She said he and a short female went towards Davis T stop on Holland and the Seven Hills area. We searched those areas but could not find anyone matching their description. I returned to Ms. XXXX to get a detailed description of what happened. Ms. XXXX said she was sitting at a bench with 3-4 friends and she said XXXX asked to speak to her in private. She got up and walked 5 feet away from the group. She said he asked her for some weed and she said she was going to get some from the dispensary but doesn't have any on her right now. Ms. XXXX stated XXXX said, "You trying to do me like that?" and he hit her in the head with a laptop. Ms. XXXX said her glasses flew off, she fell to the ground, and went unconscious. I looked at Ms. XXXX face and I saw a one inch cut on her nose and it was swelling. Officer Canty said an anonymous witness sent him a photo of the person who hit her. I asked Officer Canty to forward the photo to my Dept email. The photo depicts a black male with dreads wearing a white shirt with dark pants. I forwarded the photo to Officer Matt McCune. He identified him as Jesus Gomes XXXX. Ms. XXXX said she didn't want to press charges because he was a dangerous man. She was medically evaluated and refused transport.
At 6:54 PM, Officer Matt McCune told me he heard a dispute in Davis Sq and he saw Mr. Jesus Gomes. Officer McCune handcuffed Mr. Gomes and read him his miranda rights. I asked Mr. Gomes what happened earlier today with Ms. XXXX. He said she was the biggest crack dealer in Davis Sq and accused him of stealing her crack. Mr. Gomes stated she spit in his face, he said he raised his hands, and walked away from her. I spoke with Ms. XXXX again because she was involved in the dispute. She said he came back and she is frightened of him. I asked her to walk across the street to identify him. Ms. XXXX saw him through the Davis T Station and said that was him and began crying. I advised her if she is frightened of anyone she can call the police. Mr. Gomes was searched, transported by 200 to the main station, and processed in the usual manner.
Respectfully Submitted,
Officer Albert Gee #287. Somerville Police Dept. |
