On Friday, July 18th, 2025, I was working my assigned 8AM to 4PM shift in the East-1 cruiser. At approximately 2:26PM, Officers were dispatched to the area of Sav-Mor Spirits (325 Canal Ln), for a report of a shoplifter. The following is a summary of the incident:
The shoplifter was described as a white male wearing a blue shirt, a blue cap, and black shorts. The reporting party stated that he walked South on Canal Ln. towards CVS.
The reporting party was Mrs. XXXX, who is the manager of Sav-Mor Spirits. Mrs. XXXX stated that she watched the suspect enter the store, grab two cans out of the fridge and put one in his reusable bag. He put the second can back and then walked out of the store with the can that he had concealed in his bag. He exited the store after he passed all points of sale and made no attempt to pay for the drink. The video has been attached to this report.
Shortly after the dispatch, Officer Brian Pavao (West-5) located the suspect in the parking lot of Ashley's furniture, just past CVS. He was stopped with a can of Mike's Hard Lemonade. When asked for his receipt, he said that he did not know what he did with it. We explained that we received a report that someone matching his description had stolen from Sav-Mor liquor and he stated several times that it was not him and that he paid for the can. I told him that I would be going back to the store to look at the video and gave him a chance to tell the truth; he replied "I don't know, if it was me then I don't remember stealing it."
The suspect stated that his name was XXXX and gave a social security number of XXXX, and a date of birth of XXXX. Officer Pavao conducted a CJIS query of the information given; it hit with a license photo that did not look like the suspect we had in front of us. The suspect stated that he lost a lot of weight and proceeded to lift up his shirt and show us his stomach. He then proceeded to give his address, which was the Canton address that was listed on XXXX license. Officer Pavao then pointed out that the license said that XXXX was 5'11. The suspect we had in front of us was 5'2. The suspect was adamant that his name was XXXX. We gave him numerous attempts to provide the correct name and he continued to be untruthful.
Assembly Row Security Officer, Ms. XXXX said they believe that his name was Gregory. I asked Officer Pavao if he could look up a Gregory Natale and he quickly found a Mr. Gregory Natale with 7 active warrants.
He was placed under arrest for his 7 warrants and for one additional charge of Massachsuetts General Law C. 266 s.30A/D: Shoplifting by concealing.
Respectfully submitted,
Officer Priscilla Ribeiro #349
