On Monday, July 21st 2025, I Ofc. Antoine along with Ofc. Campers, were assigned to the East 3 for the 0800-1600 hours shift. We responded to the Burlington Coat Factory for a shoplifting call along with Ofc. Da Costa and Ofc. Dottin. Upon our arrival, Officers Dottin and Da Costa were standing outside of the store and had three male individuals detained.

XXXX, the store manager, had pointed the individuals out to officers and informed them that they had concealed items in the reusable bags they were carrying. XXXX went on to explain that she was approached by one of the employees, XXXX (refused to provide last name) who informed her that she had walked past three male parties in the aisle and noticed that their reusable bags were empty, however, when she walked past them moments later she could now see merchandise inside the bags.

Officer Dottin then began gathering information from the male parties. One male party, later identified as XXXX, was able to provide a receipt with the items that he purchased and he was allowed to leave. The other two individuals identified themselves as XXXX and XXXX. Neither XXXX or XXXX could provide us with receipts for the items inside each of their bags.

After inventorying the items, XXXX confirmed that they were all items sold at Burlington Coat Factory and most of the items had Burlington Coat Factory tags attached. XXXX took the items back in the store and gave us an itemized receipt for the value of clothing in each bag. XXXX had stolen clothing valued at $89.97 and XXXX had stolen items valued at $115.94. A Copy of both receipts will be attached to this report.

Both XXXX and XXXX were then placed under arrest. Officer Buswell operating marked waggon #200 arrived on scene and transported both parties to Somerville Police headquaters, where they were booked in the usual manner by Sgt. Berrouet and charged for the following:

At the booking window, both individuals provided their real names: Kelin Diaz Gomez (XXXX) and Edward Carmona Almonte (XXXX)
