Narrative: On Sunday, June 7, 2026, I, Officer Jorge Morel, was working patrol during my assigned 4 PM to 12 AM shift in the East Somerville District in full uniform. At approximately 10:14 PM, I was dispatched to 1 Main St. in the area of (Falafel Place) regarding an intoxicated individual. Officer Legros (W-5) was dispatched as well. Officers Ribeiro (E-3) and M. Canty (E-1) also responded throughout this incident. While responding dispatch updated us in two different instances that the intoxicated party in question was assaulting Ms. XXXX friend and briefly that the intoxicated male pulled a knife out.
This is a summary of the events that occurred during incident #26037390:
Upon arrival, I was flagged down by a female later identified as XXXX. She stated that the suspect was down Main St. with the other officers. I then observed Officers Legros and Canty with a tall, barefoot male wearing all black and a beard. Ms. XXXX identified him as the suspect in this incident. XXXX abruptly left Falafel Place, and both parties began telling me about the events that occurred before our arrival.
Ms. XXXX stated that she was near the bus stop at the corner of Main St. and Broadway smoking a cigarette when the suspect approached her and, while in close proximity, pulled his pants down and began urinating on one of the trees. Ms. XXXX stated that she was shocked and uncomfortable with the situation and immediately began dialing 911. She then began creating distance from the suspect, at which point he began telling her to "come over" along with Portuguese words that she had no idea what it meant. Ms. XXXX had to pause and take a deep breath before continuing her statement.
Ms. XXXX then stated that the suspect began approaching her as she continued creating distance. At that point, Mr. XXXX told me that he exited his store and told the suspect to leave her alone and leave the area. The suspect then approached Mr. XXXX, his chest puffed out and his stance widened. Mr. XXXX pulled out his phone and began recording the interaction.
The video Mr. XXXX showed me appears to show the suspect approaching him near the restaurant entrance. The image then becomes blurry and begins shaking. Mr. XXXX stated that this was when the suspect swung at him with his fist, striking him in the neck area.
Ms. XXXX followed up by stating that Mr. XXXX fell to the ground and the suspect punched him multiple times. Mr. XXXX then stood up, at which point the suspect pulled out a knife and pointed it at him. Mr. XXXX locked himself inside the store, and the suspect attempted to enter by pulling on the door but was unable to gain access. Ms. XXXX then stated that as soon as the suspect heard our sirens and saw our emergency lights, he began fleeing toward Main St. Officer Canty told me that, upon arrival on scene, he observed the suspect in the area of 14 Main St., near Edgar Ave. After looking back at Officer Canty's cruiser, the suspect walked into a bush near the residence and exited as soon as Officer Canty arrived. Officers Canty and Legros detained the suspect, and Officer Canty recovered a black and bright orange knife with the blade exposed. Mr. XXXX stated that the suspect had a bright red knife. Mr. XXXX also recorded the suspect while he was attempting to gain entry into the restaurant, and for a brief moment the knife can be seen in the video while the suspect is holding it and the suspect is calling Mr. XXXX to exit the store doing hand motions. Ms. XXXX told me that the suspect yelled "I am going to kill you". The suspect was later identified as BRUNO DA SILVA DARE, I observed that he had no shoes and was barefoot. I retrieved his Havana flip flops from the entrance of Falafal Place, where he left it when he fled the area and retrieved his backpack form the front of the business next door, 385 Broadway (The Hair Garden). Mr. Dare was medically evaluated by EMS Cataldo as well as Mr. XXXX, who sustained minor scratched in his finger and some discoloration in his neck area. Both refused medical. Ms. XXXX stated that Mr. Dare left his backpack on the floor during this incident, I placed Mr. Dare under arrest and handcuffed behind his back (DL). He was transported to the Somerville Police Station by Officer Dottin, operating Prisoner Transport Unit #200, where he was booked by Shift Commander Lt. Isidoro in the usual manner. The knife retrieved during this incident will be tag and log into evidence. Mr: XXXX stated that he will email the videos that he recorded. I will be attaching it to this report once he sends it. I will be filing the following charges against BRUNO DA SILVA DARE: C. h. 265/ S. 13A/B A&B c265 S13A C. h. 265/ S. 15B/A ASSAULT W/DANGEROUS WEAPON C. h. 275/ S. 2 THREAT TO COMMIT CRIME Respectfully Submitted,
