Narrative: 

On Tuesday, September 8, 2026, I, Officer Dayquan Goodnow, was working in full uniform and assigned to marked unit East-1 for the Somerville Police Department. I was dispatched to 640 Assembly Row for a B&E in progress; the caller stated someone was attempting to break into his home and later stated I have an emergency. East-4 Officer K. Taylor, Sector-East Officer Lentini, Det. Collette and Sierra-8 Sgt. Scrugli responded as backup.

Upon arrival, I attempted to make contact with the occupants of Apartment XXX. After multiple attempts at the door, I asked Sgt. Scrugli over the radio for permission to force entry into the residence to ensure that the occupants were okay. Sgt. Scrugli permitted the fire department to force entry, and Somerville Fire was called to the scene.

Somerville Fire arrived on scene. While waiting for the fire department, officers continued attempting to make contact with the occupants of Apartment XXX. Somerville Fire forced open the apartment door, cleared the residence, and found it vacant.

Dispatch advised Officer Lentini that the resident of Apartment XXX had called his sister, who then called 911 and advised dispatch that her brother and cousin had called her stating that they were hearing gunshots in the building. The sister provided dispatch with the names and phone numbers of her brother, later identified as Lawrence Winsfield Polidor, and her cousin, later identified as XXXX. Dispatch matched POLIDOR's phone number to the original caller in the reported B&E in progress at Apartment XXX.

As the investigation continued, we contacted POLIDOR and XXX, who were inside Apartment XXX. I explained that we were investigating a reported B&E and needed to confirm they lived there and that all occupants were okay. POLIDOR told officers that we were not allowed inside the residence and that his sister, the leaseholder, was on her way.

We again explained to POLIDOR that we were investigating a reported B&E and needed to ensure everyone inside the residence was okay. Please note that, at this time, officers had information indicating that POLIDOR's phone number was the same number used by the original caller regarding the B&E.

I attempted to obtain information from both POLIDOR and XXXX to confirm whether POLIDOR was the original caller. At this time, POLIDOR whispered something into XXXX ear.

Lt. Messaoudi advised officers over the radio that the caller's phone number returned to XXXX and that, if officers could not confirm the phone number, a criminal complaint would be issued for falsely reporting a crime. POLIDOR heard this information over the officers' radios. Officer Taylor then asked POLIDOR his name. POLIDOR stated to XXXX, Yo, shut the door, and attempted to close the door on officers.

I advised POLIDOR that he could not shut the door while we were conducting our investigation. POLIDOR continued attempting to close the door to impede officers. I advised him that he would be detained while we continued our investigation.

At this time, POLIDOR became agitated and aggressive and attempted to walk away from me as I attempted to place him in handcuffs. I placed the first handcuff on him. As I attempted to place the second handcuff on POLIDOR, he pulled away from me, causing the handcuff to injure my left hand and slightly scrape my left ring finger, which later began to bruise.

I told POLIDOR he needed to place his hands behind his back. At this time, he pulled his hands toward his body in an attempt to prevent me from properly securing him. During this struggle, POLIDOR continuously swayed his body from side to side and threw his elbows, striking me multiple times. POLIDOR began screaming, Help, they are kidnapping me, as officers attempted to secure him safely.

POLIDOR continued to pull away, sway his body, and throw his elbows striking Officer Taylor and Det. Collette on scene during the struggle. I advised POLIDOR that he was now under arrest. POLIDOR continued to resist officers. I attempted to guide POLIDOR to the floor while we were struggling with him; however, due to his resistance, I was unsuccessful. Officer Lentini secured POLIDOR's legs, and officers then guided him to the floor and properly secured him.

Please note that immediately following the struggle, I felt pain in my lower back.

POLIDOR was advised that he was under arrest and was charged with the following:
