Narrative: 

On Saturday, September 26th,  2026, I, Officer Jonathan Martins, was assigned to Marked Unit East-2. At approximately 0228 AM, I was dispatched to 20 Charlestown St #3 for a check condition. According to Somerville dispatch, the 911 caller was calling on behalf of her father, who resides in the same building. According to the reporting party, her father could hear things being thrown and arguing. It should be noted that there is extensive history and calls for service regarding domestic violence at the above address. Due to this history, a minimum of two officers and a supervisor are required to respond to this address. The following units also responded: Ofc Lentini (Sector-East), Ofc Souza (East-1), Ofc Kartso (East-3), Ofc Goodnow (East-4), and Sgt Catatao.

  Upon arrival, Officers heard loud music coming from Unit #3, audible from outside the building. Officers began ringing the doorbell to Unit #3; shortly after, the defendant, KANYSHIA Brioso, appeared on her balcony and said, "We are having a sex party." Officers explained that they were there because of reports of an argument and things being thrown, and that her music was too loud. She again stated that "It's just a sex party, people having sex. Why you want to join to see?" Officers explained to KANYSHIA that we just needed to speak to her. While walking up the stairs of the building, Ofc Goodnow, Sgt Catatao, and I noticed old, what appeared to be dried blood spots on the floor outside of Unit #3. I then knocked on the unit door, and KANYSHIA answered; I informed KANYSHIA that officers were on scene because of reports of arguing and items being thrown in her unit. KANYSHIA immediately said, "You need a warrant to enter; we are having a sex party." KANYSHIA then slammed the door and yelled, "Warrant."

  To de-escalate the situation, I knocked on the door again, and KANYSHIA answered again. I told KANYSHIA to please lower the music and that we need to make sure everyone is okay in the home. I asked about the dried blood, and KANYSHIA said it was "from earlier in the day; y'all should know, ask your other officers that were here". Officers on the day shift on 09/25/2026 did respond to this address for a check-condition, see incident #26068692 I then asked why someone would call stating they heard arguing, to which she said there is only a sex party. When I asked if there was anyone else in the apartment, KANYSHIA said yes, but it was none of my business and again slammed the door. Due to the nature of the call and the extensive history, officers on scene decided we would make entry when KANYSHIA opened the door again. For the third time, I knocked on the apartment door; KANYSHIA lowered the music and opened the door again. KANYSHIA asked whether I finally had my warrant, to which I responded that we needed to make sure everyone in the apartment was okay. At this point, KANYSHIA attempted to slam the door shut, but it made contact with my right leg, and Officers entered the apartment. KANYSHIA appeared to be intoxicated, as her speech was slurred, her eyes were glossy, and she had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from her breath.

  KANYSHIA immediately began yelling that we entered without a warrant and that she's going to win a very large lawsuit. Officers then entered a neighboring bedroom occupied by XXXX ( XXXX has domestic incidents with KANYSHIA), XXXX, and XXXX. Both XXXX and XXXX were lying in bed fully clothed while XXXX was inside a nearby closet also fully clothed. XXXX immediately started saying, "What's going on? We are just having a sex party." Officers explained that they got reports of an argument and needed to confirm that everyone was okay. While trying to speak to the other involved parties, KANYSHIA began collecting sex toys (a red rose vibrator, a black anal dildo, a clear suction-like device). When Officers tried to separate the parties to discuss what was going on, KANYSHIA yelled catch and threw the above sex toys at me, Ofc Souza, and Ofc Goodnow. Ofc Souza was struck with the clear suction device on his upper chest; Ofc Goodnow was struck with the black anal dildo on his upper chest, and I was struck by the red rose vibrator up my upper arm as I put my arm up to block the object. It should be noted that Officers were in different locations in the room, and the sex toys were not thrown in one general direction.

  At this point, I told KANYSHIA she was under arrest for ABPO and to put her hands behind her back. XXXX then stated, "Y'all going to arrest her for throwing sex toys." We then got KANYSHIA out of the bedroom and placed her in handcuffs; the transport wagon was then requested over the air. XXXX again stated, "You really hit him with the dildo." KANYSHIA then began yelling, "I did not throw it at them; I was throwing it at people behind them." XXXX then stated, "Oh yeah, she was trying to throw it to me." While Sgt. Catatao, Ofc Lentini, and I were trying to escort KANYSHIA out of the apartment, she immediately said, "Get me the Sergeant, I am not moving," and sat on the ground. In a controlled manner, we tried to lift KANYSHIA, but she began kicking her legs and pulling her arms away, she then wrapped her legs around a pole in the middle of her living room. I told KANYSHIA to stop resisting and that she was under arrest. KANYSHIA continued kicking the air. We carried KANYSHIA outside in a controlled manner.

  When we got KANYSHIA outside, she stated, "I was able to antagonize you guys; this is what I wanted. I wanted to get rich from this; You're going to pay for my kids' tuition."  KANYSHIA then complained of injuries from a previous surgery; EMS and Fire were immediately requested to the scene. EMS cleared KANYSHIA. When Officers were discussing with each other who was inside the apartment, KANYSHIA stated that one of them was "her brother" and again was adamant that it was just a sex party. When officers tried to get any further statement or additional identifying information, KANYSHIA told the other parties, "not to say anything, and that we are saving our stories when we need to be witnesses in court. "

  KANYSHIA was transported to the Somerville Police Station by Unit 200 operated by Ofc Rivera. Lt. Messaoudi booked KANYSHIA in the usual manner. The sex toys involved in the incident were seized and logged into evidence via our SAFE ELECTRONIC System. Photos of these items will be attached to the report.

KANYSHIA was arrested on the following:
