On Thursday, February 26, 2026, I, Officer Robert Taylor, was on duty during my assigned 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. shift in marked cruiser E-3. At approximately 12:47 p.m., I was dispatched to 14 McGrath Highway, Marshalls, for a report of a shoplifter. Officer Morel (E-1) responded as backup.

Somerville Dispatch relayed that loss prevention was chasing a white female wearing all black who had shoplifted from the store. They stated she was carrying two bags and was running by the dollar store. Shortly thereafter, we received another transmission from dispatch stating that the female was running on Medford Street heading toward Target.

As I turned onto Medford Street, I observed a female fitting the description provided. She was a short white female wearing a long black coat and black pants and carrying two bags. Officer Morel and I activated our emergency lights and stopped the individual in front of the Target parking lot on Medford Street. I asked her where she was coming from, and she stated she was coming from Marshalls. I advised her that we had received a call from Marshalls regarding a shoplifter and that she matched the description provided.

I asked for her name, and she stated her name was Jacqueline McCall and that she had two warrants. She also admitted to shoplifting from Marshalls. She stated she was homeless, had nothing to her name, and needed to take some items, and she asked that she not be arrested. I then asked what items she had taken from the store. She handed me two black bags with Marshalls tags attached. She was also wearing a pair of Nike shoes with tags still attached.

I queried the name she provided through CJIS, which returned a positive identification confirming her identity. I also confirmed that she had two active warrants out of Boston District Court. At that time, Ms. McCall was placed under arrest for the two outstanding warrants and the following charge:

266/30A/A  Shoplifting by Asportation

Respectfully submitted,
