Narrative: 

On Sunday May 31, 2026, Officer Ribeiro and I were assigned to East 2 on the 4:00 P.M to 12:00 A.M shift. At approximately 4:56 P.M, Officers Pavao and Barton, who were at Target, were alerted by Target staff at 180 Somerville Avenue that they were currently monitoring a shoplifter that was attempting to leave the store. Officers Barton and Pavao then informed dispatch. The following is a summary of events:

Upon our arrival, the suspect was identified as Eric Hale. Officer Pavao informed me that upon running a query though CJIS on Eric, he saw that Eric had an active warrant for his arrest, shoplifting. Target staff then recovered all of the items Eric had taken. The items were several portable charging banks and 1 combination lock, for a total of $248.87.

XXXX, from Target Loss Prevention told me that Eric was observed entering the store at 4:36 P.M. At 4:43 P.M, Eric was seen on camera in the phone accessories aisle selecting several items off of the shelves and concealed them inside of a bag he had brought into the store. At 4:45 P.M, Eric was seen selecting another item from the shelves and concealing it inside of his personal bag. Eric then made his way to the home improvement section. Around 4:52 P.M, Eric was seen selecting a combination lock from the shelf and walking away with it.

Eric then walked towards the store exit. Around 4:55 P.M, Eric passed all points of sale and had never attempted to make payment. At that time, XXXX stopped Eric along with Officers Pavao and Barton, that were on scene.

I then placed Eric in handcuffs, checked for tightness, and double-locked them. I then escorted Eric outside where I searched him incident to arrest. Eric was then transported to the station where he was booked by Lt. Capasso. A photo of the receipt containing the involved items will be electronically attached to the report.

Based on this information, I will be charging Eric with the following:
