On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at approximately 7:35 pm, I, Officer Souza, responded to a fight at Broadway and Franklin Street.

Officer Dottin was the first officer to respond. An unknown male was assaulting Mr. XXXX. Mr. XXXX stated that the unknown male was attacking a moving vehicle and broke their window. When Officer Moreira and I arrived on scene, there was no such vehicle. See Officer Dottin's supplemental for details.

Upon arrival, Officer Moreira and I saw Officer Dottin with the unknown male. The unknown male was in handcuffs, and his body was placed against Officer Dottin's police cruiser. There was a crowd around them. Local business patrons left businesses and gathered on both sides of Broadway to observe the chaotic scene. The bystanders began asking officers what was happening.

The unknown male was yelling "Fuck you motherfucker" at Mr. XXXX. He began kicking and attempting to swing his arms to free himself of the handcuffs. He then kicked the passenger side view mirror of Officer Dottin's cruiser. Officer Moreira told him to stop resisting and calm down.

 The unknown male then banged his head on the rear passenger side window. Officer Dottin and Officer Moreira then brought him to the ground. Officer Moreira and Officer Dottin attempted to place him into the recovery position. While on the ground, he started yelling, "Fuck you faggot." The unknown male continued to kick his legs at Officer Dottin and Officer Moreira. Officer Dottin then placed shackles around his feet. The male then spat on Officer Moreira, Officer Dottin, and Sgt. Van Nostrand.

Officer Dottin, Officer Moreira, and I escorted the unknown male into the back of the transport wagon.

The unknown male was transported back to the Somerville Police Station for booking. At the booking window, the male was identified as Sandesh Acharya.

Mr. Acharya was placed under arrest and is being charged with the following:

Three counts of c265 S13D A&B on a police officer

One count of c265 S13A A&B

One count of c268 S32B Resisting arrest

One count of c272 S53 Disorderly conduct
