On August, 20 2025, I, Officer McAloney, was assigned to marked unit East-2. At approximately 4:27 PM, I responded to TJ Maxx N' More, 105 Middlesex Ave. for a report of a shoplifting.

As I arrived, Somerville Police Dispatch stated, lost prevention had followed the male, who was now in front of Ashley Furniture. The male was described as Asian, wearing a black backwards hat, a black shirt and a pink backpack. I stopped the individual matching the description at this location. He was identified as, Mr. Bao CAO.

CAO was placed in double locked handcuffs and escorted back into the office of TJ Maxx to fill out trespass paperwork and return the merchandise. I'd note lost prevention, Mr. XXXX stated CAO is a repeat offender and had shoplifted from the Somerville location as recent as August 15, 2025.

Officer Hartsgrove, (East-3) arrived on scene. XXXX was able to view the security footage that showed CAO take a TJ Maxx pink backpack, place multiple items inside and then exit the store past all points of payment. The total value of stolen goods was approximately $212.74.

I was notified by Somerville Police Dispatch that CAO also had two active warrants (Docket #2514CR001236 and Docket #2514CR001304).

CAO was placed under arrest for the two warrants as well as the charge Shoplifting by Concealing Merchandise, c266 S30A.

Unit 200, operated by Officer McCune was requested. CAO was transported back to Somerville Police Headquarters and booked by Lieutenant Capasso.
