On Wednesday September 17, 2025. I officer Guylerna Pierre was working patrol during my assigned time of 4 pm to 12 am. In the east Somerville district. In full uniform assigned to cruiser 181.

At approximately 3:57 pm I responded to 300 Canal Street (Saks Off 5th Outlet)  to shoplifting call in progress. Officer Jorge Morel and Officer Ribeiro (E-4) responded as well.

Upon arrival we were met by Asset protection associate Mr. XXXX who stated that he was watching suspect in the store and witnessed him take out a reusable Burlington coat factory bag out of his backpack that he was carrying on his person, and placed two pairs of sneakers in the bag. When we entered area of asset protection the party stated he had no identification on him. Also in the room was another asset protection associate Ms. XXXX. We asked the suspect for his social , and he stated that he didn't know it, we then asked for his name and DOB, he identified himself as XXXX DOB XXXX. I requested from dispatch to run an  inquiry this name and DOB, that came back with no matches. At this point I placed the suspect under arrest, he was handcuffed behind his back. ( double locked). An incident search of the suspect backpack revealed that he had concealed two more sneakers, belt, two wallets and flip flops. Asset Protection totaled the amount of merchandise and the items estimated to $479.30. A search of his person revealed that he had a wallet with a Columbian identification card with the name Mr. Lucas Guerra Ruiz DOB XXXX. The Columbian ID pictured matched Mr. Ruiz appearance. A query was done with his name and DOB. It revealed that Mr. Ruiz had a BOP under PCF# XXXX. I was able to confirm identity by Mr. Ruiz confirming his mother and father names, as well as his address. Mr. Ruiz had a previous guilty conviction for shoplifting by concealing merchandise docket# 2586CR000301A

I requested for 200 which was operated by Station Officer Justin Buswell to be sent my location to pick up Mr. Ruiz and bring him back to the station in order to be booked by shift commander Lt. Shackelford in the usual matter.

I will be filing charges against Mr. Ruiz for;
